Is there more plants available other than the listing?

We list separately for our website (thebasements.us) and Etsy store (thebasements.store). You can check both sites for more available plants.

 

How to combine orders from our website and Etsy store?

Just message us detail information about the plants you want, we will help you open a special order.

 

What type of soil are used in our greenhouse?

We are using Pon Mix as our soil which 2:4:1 = Lava Rock : Pumice : Zeolite. More detail information of our recommended potting mix for our plants you can check the link: https://thebasements.us/blogs/plant-care/potting-mix

 

When the order will be shipped?

We only ship the plants Mondays and Tuesdays, to avoid them sitting in the post office for the weekend. We want all of plants pack the best way we can to minimize the shipping damages and stresses, so base on our work load, it may take a week to process your orders that made after 5pm Sunday.

 

How long the shipment will take?

For regular shipping, We ship with USPS priority that will take 1-4 days without any delay. (Only boroughs in New York City, or cities around New York City has the possibility of 1 day shipping). For express shipping, we ship with USPS priority express which take 1-2 days without any delay. As we only ship the plants Mondays and Tuesdays, if there is no delay, you will get your plant(s) within the week that we ship it/them. 

 

How will the plants be packed?

Most of our plants will be shipped bare roots with slightly moist moss, if it is not indicated otherwise. The plants will be packed with poly fil and wrapped with rice paper.  If you order the winter shipping solution, which is highly recommend for cold season, another layer with insulation will wrapped out side of the rice paper.

 

Is the winter shipping solution necessary?

For cold weather days, the winter shipping solution is highly recommended. Base on our experience it will reduced the risk of cold damage and decrease the rehab stress and time for the plants. Our greenhouse is located in New York City, so even if your city is still warm, you may still need to order it. Before the shipment, we will double check the weather, and if the the winter shipping solution is not necessary, we will refund you the money. 

 

What need to be prepared before the plant is delivered?

Because we are shipping with bare roots, you need prepare the potting mix and planter before the plant(s) is delivered. Plant scissors, 3% hydrogen peroxide and rubber gloves may also needed for remove possible minor root rotten and wash the plant(s). Is there any root picture available?

Because keep pull out the roots from potting mix may broken the root system, we will only able to provide before the shipment. We will carefully check all the roots of our plants to make sure all of them have enough healthy roots. If not, we will help you find a replacement plant or offer you a refund. 

 

Is there any mother plant picture available?

If there is no mother plant picture listed, we most likely do not take any. Base on our experiences the grow point of the point effect much more for the future growing compare with how the mother plant looks. 

 

How we will help if the package get delayed?

After we deliver the package to USPS, we have no control of it. It will be easier if you call USPS to open an investigate case, so they will direct contact you for any updates of the package. After you open the case, please send us the case number, we will also call USPS to provide any information they wanted. 

 

How we will help if the package get lost?

If you did not open any case with USPS yet. Please call them to open a case. After you open the case, please send us the case number, we will also call USPS to provide any information or evidence they need. We will try our best to help you get the $100 insurance that provide by USPS.

 

How we will help if the plant get damaged because of mistreated during the shipment?

Please take detail picture of the damaged box and damaged plant. It will be easier if you call USPS to open a case, so they are able to contact you if they need more information about the damaged package. After you open the case, please send us the case number, we will also call USPS to provide any information or evidence they need. We will try our best to help you get the $100 insurance that provide by USPS.
