Alocaisa Melo Albo
Alocaisa Melo Albo
Description
A rare variegated mutation of Alocasia Melo, featuring dramatic white variegation over ultra-thick, stone-like leaves.
Origin:
This is the Albo (white variegated) form of Alocasia Melo—a species known for its exceptionally thick, corrugated, almost rock-like leaves with a deep bluish-green tone. The Albo mutation introduces high-contrast white patches or marbling, creating an extraordinary visual contrast against the textured surface. Due to the leaf thickness, the variegation appears layered and three-dimensional, enhancing the plant’s sculptural appeal.
Care Recommendations:
🌡️ Temperature: 70–85°F (21–29°C)
💧 Humidity: 70–80%
🌞 Light: Medium to bright indirect light; avoid harsh direct sunlight to protect the variegation.
Difficulty Level: 4
Additional Notes:
This is a slow-growing and sensitive variety. Its thick leaves require excellent airflow and well-draining media to prevent rot. The white variegation is unstable and can burn easily under low humidity or sudden environmental changes. Recommended for growers with experience managing rare Alocasia in cabinet or greenhouse conditions.
